Watercolour for the background.
Mechanical pencil for the design on the background, and for the skin.
Staedlers for the outlines.
And India ink, of course.
I've improved alot since the first time around. My grasp on the human body has improved. The hair is more detailed. The composition is stronger. And the materials are better quality! When I did the first one, I used regular office pens, Sharpies as opposed to ink, and a waxy gray pencil crayon. This time around, even the paper was nicer! The only thing that hasn't changed is my good ol' student level water colours.

i like your colour choice for the background, as it adds a lot to the mood of the overall piece. the pose works really well too and when combined with the draping of the dress and hair make for a nice mix of vulnerability and the idea that this is a woman who has 'lived' and who will survive somehow...
